Thank you for your interest in the Tackling Tinnitus study program.

Experiencing tinnitus can be very bothersome and interfere with many aspects of daily life. Although there is no cure for tinnitus, research has identified strategies that can help people better manage their tinnitus. Recent studies have also shown that significant others of individuals with tinnitus may also experience some effects as a result of this.

To provide additional support to individuals with tinnitus as well as their significant others (e.g., spouse, children, siblings) the Tackling Tinnitus program was developed. This is an Internet-based intervention for tinnitus, which can be compared to an e-learning program. The information provided is similar to that received at a tinnitus clinic, but the delivery of the information is in the comfort of your own home. What makes this program unique is that you have a clinician supporting you online while you do the program. Previous research on Tackling Tinnitus across the globe has shown that this is an effective way of helping people manage and reduce the impact tinnitus has.

We are presently evaluating the effects of the stepped care approach for the delivery of Internet-based intervention for individuals with tinnitus. In this program, all enrolled participants will be initially given a 2-week program (i.e., brief informational counseling). After successful completion of this program, if participants still require help, then they will be provided access to a 6-week program (i.e., full Cognitive Behavioral Therapy program). In addition, we are also evaluating the efficacy of a brief (2-week) informational counseling for significant others (e.g., spouse, children, siblings, etc) of individuals with tinnitus.

The registration is currently closed. However, you can join the waiting list for future studies.
